Chief Architect

We are seeking a Chief Architect to drive the design and architecture of our industry-leading solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and own all technical and architectural aspects of the Clarus IPT solutions to ensure consistency, quality and architectural integrity.
  • Apply your thorough understanding of the IPT market, customers and competitive landscape to drive forward our solutions in line with strategic objectives. Work with internal and external technical leaders to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
  • Lead the engineering team in the design and development of new product features, providing architectural leadership and guidance to reduce schedule risk. Mentor the development team in the adoption and use of best practices and design patterns.
  • Design and implement frameworks, interfaces, and services to be used by a broad range of applications and development groups. Design system layers and architecture standards to support componentized, layered, and distributed development.
  • Review existing software architecture and identify areas for improvement in the areas of scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Take ownership for technology patent filings to protect Clarus Systems. core intellectual property.
  • Leverage open-source software and tools
  • Provide strong customer advocacy within the product team in partnership with Product Management and Solutions Consulting. Understand and champion customer use cases in the context of new feature deliverables and product strategy.
  • Research and evaluate technology directions and partnership opportunities to enhance our strategic value to customers.

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience developing software in a structured setting
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Masters Degree a plus
  • Expert level knowledge in the Java technology stack
  • Expert in J2EE, web services and other distributed technologies and architectures
  • Excellent OO development skills, as demonstrated by having designed large scale projects
  • Experience with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
  • Experience with Enterprise IP Telephony / VoIP and Network Management is a major plus
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing and leading the development of new products in emerging markets
  • Experience with design patterns and modern agile development methodologies and practices

You should have excellent written and oral communications skills, and a high degree of self-motivation and flexibility. You should have a demonstrated ability in leading senior engineers in design and implementation, and in leading the Engineering team in the delivery of high quality products in a startup environment.
